Education & Research Overview

Our staff represents our greatest asset and also the most challenging. They are centric to our model and the need to keep developing their skills is a corporate priority. Their motivation, skill, and ingenuity are vital for the solutions we undertake. The industry around custom development, Microsoft, enterprise technology, and cloud computing is based on the capabilities of the individuals who perform these feats. Therefore, our staff are our greatest asset.

To keep our staff motivated, engaged, and improving their knowledge we have incorporated a significant drive toward education and research. This comes in 3 parts:


  1. Product Research & Development: All of our developers and core IT personnel are required to dedicate 10% of their time to product development. This also includes research to learn how to develop complex products. The results incorporate a knowledgeable workforce and simultaneous development of TEDI products and technologies. .
  1. Ongoing Education for Staff: Our staff is provided set aside funds for classes and education to increase their knowledge, value, and growth. This can include technical certifications, training, and other educational tools approved by their respective manager.
  1. Apprenticeship for Students: TEDI is working with 5 universities in the Washington DC area in promoting the largest Microsoft technology program within the region. We provide hands on technical training, certification preparation, funding for certification and more. TEDI is committed to creating a workforce to benefit the Microsoft community.

Microsoft Technology Apprenticeship (MTA)

The MTA is dedicated to providing information technology oriented college students the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in technology, business, and government.  This includes the use of Cloud Computing, application development, collaborative technologies, and technical project management using such technologies as Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, Team Foundation Server, Project Server, SQL and more.  Apprentices who are interested in the technology space, whether business oriented or custom development, can benefit greatly from the real world skills that will be developed during the course of the MTA.

Depending on the Educational Track(s) chosen by the apprentice, the individual will achieve the proficiency to allow him/her to administer, develop, or architect Microsoft technologies and custom .NET development. In addition, they will become proficient on Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and the approaches necessary to effectively manage, track, and coordinate the development of complex technologies. The individual will learn how to operate the full lifecycle of technology development as well as configuration management of Microsoft Technologies

Software and Production Development

Development of new applications and products are an important focus for our organization. It provides resources for learning new technical skills, team collaboration, and creating new tools that can be used commercially. We have several products in design including our Enterprise Battle Management (EBM) and Stealth Defect Technology (SDT).

Kinnect Gesture

Operations and commands performed within the operating system can be performed through defaulted hand gestures and point to click. This allows for more expedient implementation of controls, configuration, and utilization of primary Windows features and Microsoft applications.

Stealth Defect Technology (SDT) is an aircraft detection technology designed to identify any aircraft within a coverage area. Using an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) consisting of multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), our solution is capable of detecting any aircraft regardless of radar absorption material, shape, or architecture
